We love it when new labels and designers hit our shores, and the latest hailing from Australia are ones to get excited about.
Cute Australian designer Sara Phillips has infiltrated our shops - her sweet summer collection “In Bloom” will be stocked in Dunedin at Slick Willy’s. The range is fun and pretty, taking its cue from the film The Secret Garden – meaning there are plenty of vintage floral prints. We see a trip to Dunedin coming on... But don’t worry it’s also available online via websites Beginningboutique.com.au and Stylepalace.com.au, which ship worldwide.
Phillips had a successful debut at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week this year, and we think she’s even cooler for the people she draws style inspiration from - Penelope Tree, Patti Smith and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
JadeMichelle is another new label, set up by young Sydney based designer Jane Roberts. She received some sartorial experience working for fashion heavyweights Morrissey and Zimmermann before starting JadeMichelle – so expect big things!
The range is all natural fabrics, almost all 100 % silk, and features pretty pieces worthy of its name - “A beautiful awakening.” Roberts got style inspiration for the range from sartorial cool chicks Chloe Sevigny and Jessica Stam.
It will be stocked at hot new boutique Desert Rose in New Plymouth – but we’ll keep you updated on any more shops that’ll be carrying both of the ranges. You’ll have to hold your horses for your sartorial awakening though – JadeMichelle is available here from next month.
